Sigmund Freud should be no doubt considered a cultural hero of a kind: a rather obscure neurologist from Vienna, he was able to produce a new discipline that could accomplish a fresh and deeper insight into human psyche. The new discipline implied unique and surprising tools and frames. But the invention of psychoanalysis implied first of all the creation of a language, indeed of many languages. Freud’s major purpose has possibly been to take care of the movable articulation of psyche’s tongue; to follow and reconstruct Freud’s moves was the very essence of Michele Ranchetti’s (1925-2008) legacy.
