This paper deals with relevant issues emerging from Italian regulation of collective agreements, such as their effects on individual employment contracts. The suggestion is that a general theory on collective agreements must deal with their legal regulation and, at the same time, explain the link between legal regulation and the collective agreements as social phenomena.
